Dr. Raju is an accomplished Telugu writer and poet with several published works. He is a well-known avadhāni, one who performs avadhānam, an ancient literary performance that originated among Sanskrit scholars and is revived by recent Telugu poets, involving improvisation of poetic responses, themes, metres and forms in response to questions from pṛcchaka (questioner). Over the years, he has been invited to perform avadhānaṃ and also share his written work at numerous literary venues.
Dr. Raju received his Masters and Ph.D. in Telugu literature from Bangalore University. His dissertation work titled, Panchakaavyallo Jana Jeevana Parisheelana, is now a published book. He has been at SSSIHL since 2012.
