DESCRIPTION
The project focuses on the development of advanced ultrafast fiber-laser-driven mid-infrared frequency comb sources operating in the 3–4 µm spectral region. The work involves experimental photonics, nonlinear frequency conversion, fiber laser development, spectroscopy-oriented source engineering, and optical system integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The selected candidate will be actively involved in the core research and development of a state-of-the-art ultrafast laser system. Key tasks include (but not limited to):
- Design, simulation, and experimental development of high-power fiber laser cavities.
- Development of dispersion compensation and pulse amplification techniques.
- Testing, characterization, and optimization of repetition rates and pulse widths.
- Compilation of research data, writing progress reports, and drafting scientific publications/patents
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
A good academic record with a minimum of 70% (or 7 CGPA) in M.Sc. in Physics / Photonics / Applied Optics / Electronics from a recognized University/Institute.
(OR)
M.Tech./M.E. in Optoelectronics / Laser Technology / Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized University/Institute.
Preference will be given to candidates having:
- CSIR-UGC NET / GATE / JEST or equivalent qualification.
- Prior experience in lasers (especially femtosecond/picosecond pulsed systems), ultrafast optics, nonlinear optics, fiber optics, spectroscopy or mid-infrared photonics.
- Exposure to programming/data acquisition tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, etc.
- Expertise in optical alignment, optical fiber splicing, handling bulk optics, and laboratory/optical instrumentation.
- Direct experience with fiber laser systems is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office & Statistical package is desirable
Appreciation and willingness to live a disciplined life as per the code of conduct of SSSIHL, based on the basic human values as enunciated by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
NOTE
- The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The candidate will have no right to claim permanent employment under SSSIHL/ANRF under the AR Scheme or continuation of services in any other project.
- The incumbents selected will have no claim for any other benefits.
- Academic Advantage: The selected candidate will be strongly encouraged to enroll in the regular Ph.D. program of the Institute, subject to fulfilling the institutional admission criteria. The project is a joint project with TIFR-H and it could potentially lead to Ph.D.
