Dr. U Suma has a marked interest in the areas of Consumer Behaviour, Gender in Management and Value based Education. She has guided MBA projects in the areas of Consumer Behaviour, Rural Management and Value based Education. As an understudy to Mr. Ranjan Samantha, Head of Marketing, TVS Ltd., she completed in-depth consumer interviews for consumer profiling, and is currently analyzing the behaviour of two-wheeler customers, qualitatively.
After graduating with B.Com. and B.Ed. degrees from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, in 1990, she pursued higher education in Annamalai University and acquired postgraduate degrees in M.Com. (1991-1993) and M.Ed. (1996-1997). She then joined her alma mater as a teacher in 1998, where she currently serves as an Associate Professor and Head of the Dept. of Management and Commerce.
As a student, she was a recipient of the All-Rounder Gold Medal awarded by Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning for overall excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities in the year 1990. In 2012, she was awarded the Sai Krishna Award for excellence in Teaching by Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning.
