Date: 23 August 2025
With the Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Department of Physics, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning celebrated National Space Day 2025 with great fervor and enthusiasm. The day was marked to honor India’s remarkable achievements in space science, following the successful landing of Chandrayaan-III near the lunar south pole on 23 August 2023, a historic event declared by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India as National Space Day.
The Space Club of the Department of Physics, supported by the Physics Club, organized a week-long series of programs culminating on 23 August 2025 in the Campus Auditorium at Anantapur.
Students delivered a series of insightful talks:
- Miss Pallavika (III B.S. Hons. Physics) reflected on the pride and inspiration drawn from the Chandrayaan-III landing.
- Miss Tejaswi (III B.S. Hons. Physics) spoke on “Why Space Matters to Us”, emphasizing the practical and imaginative impact of space research.
- Miss Mrudula (III B.S. Hons. Physics) presented updates on Chandrayaan-3, Aditya-L1, the proposed Bharatiya Antariksha Station, and futuristic technologies like Vyommitra.
- Miss Sai Niveditha (III B.S. Hons. Physics) wove together spiritual and scientific dimensions of the cosmos, followed by a video clip of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Divine Discourse on the spiritual essence of the universe.
The creative highlight was a student-enacted skit, “From Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan”, which traced India’s scientific journey from ancient astronomers to ISRO’s pioneering missions, culminating in the upcoming human spaceflight programme.
The morning session also included a video presentation on Gaganyaan and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Miss Sujata Kumari (II B.S. Hons. Physics) and Mangala Aarati.
Forerunner & Evening Events
- A Comic Strip Competition on “Alien Astronaut Adventure” encouraged creativity and scientific imagination.
- The evening session featured interactive activities such as space-themed photobooths, crossword puzzles, quizzes, a Vikram Sarabhai puzzle, and satellite-matching games, drawing enthusiastic participation.
At the Prasanthi Nilayam Campus, the day was celebrated in the College Auditorium with the theme: “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities.”
Students from undergraduate and postgraduate programs delivered a series of student presentations under “Indian Space Saga” and talks on:
- ISRO’s growth and milestones,
