12 November, 2025 – Bengaluru, Karnataka, India:
The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) launched a unique cycling expedition, S.A.I.cling 4 S.A.I., as part of its initiatives promoting Sustainability (S), Awareness (A), and Inclusivity (I) — and to commemorate the 100th Birth Anniversary of its Revered Founder Chancellor, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
The expedition, which was flagged off by Professor B. Raghavendra Prasad, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, SSSIHL, at 7 a.m., from SSSIHL’s Brindavan Campus, Kadugodi, Bengaluru, witnessed 150 cyclists comprising students, alumni, and staff members embarking on a 161 km journey to Prasanthi Nilayam, Sri Sathya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh, via SSSIHL’s Nandigiri Campus. The riders are expected to reach Sri Sathya Sai Hill View Stadium, Prasanthi Nilayam by 13th evening.
The flag-off ceremony was also graced by Dr. Srikanth Khanna, Registrar, SSSIHL; Mr. Vinay Kumar, Convener, Brindavan Ashram; Dr. D. C. Sundaresh, Director, SSSIHMS, Whitefield; along with the Directors of the SSSIHL campuses, Deans, Wardens, and Faculty Members.
Flagging off the event, Prof. B. Raghavendra Prasad said,
“Through S.A.I.cling 4 S.A.I., we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and holistic education — where physical fitness, environmental consciousness, and community service come together as expressions of gratitude to our Founder Chancellor.”
He further added that these initiatives deliver holistic benefits across physical, mental, societal, and environmental dimensions — acting as a living demonstration of sustainable practices inspired by the Institute’s integral education model.
Four Pillars of Purpose – Activities on the Way
The ‘4’ in S.A.I.cling 4 S.A.I. signifies the expedition’s four core objectives, each reflecting a tangible aspect of sustainability and service that the participants actively pursue throughout their journey:
- Cycling as a Sustainable Way of Life – Promoting an eco-friendly mode of transport by covering 161 km on bicycles, thereby reducing carbon footprint and encouraging sustainable living
- Cycling for Health and Fitness – Enhancing physical fitness, mental strength, and overall well-being, reinforcing the benefits of an active and balanced lifestyle
- Tree Plantation – Cyclists will plant trees at strategic stops between campuses and identified areas along the route to enhance green cover and promote local biodiversity.
- Waste Management – As part of a cleanliness and awareness initiative, cyclists aim to collect around 100 kg of waste, emphasizing the importance of environmental responsibility and conscious living.
Through this journey — “Pedalling with Purpose, Riding with Love” — SSSIHL students and alumni seek to translate the core values of Love, Service, and Transformation into action, reaffirming the Institute’s commitment to societal and environmental well-being.
