The Department of Education organized a one-day symposium on “Rethinking Classroom Practice: Pedagogical Interventions for Diverse Classrooms” on 2nd April 2026, offering prospective teachers, valuable insights into inclusive and responsive teaching practices.
The symposium commenced with an inaugural address by Prof. Rani P. L., Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, Literature and Languages, and Director, Anantapur Campus. It featured sessions by distinguished speakers: Dr. Onita Nakra, Counsellor and Educational Psychologist at the American School of Dubai; Ms. Ambika Subramanian, Head and Special Educator; Ms. Daniella Acca Varghese, Special Educator at Vidyanikethan Academy; Dr. Rajashree Srinivasan, Professor in Education at Azim Premji University; and Dr. Umakanth Prasad, Vice Principal, Department of Education, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan.
The discussions covered key themes such as understanding autism, inclusive classroom management, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and classroom adaptations for learners with visual impairment—highlighting the importance of empathy, flexibility, and innovation in teaching.
The sessions were highly engaging and interactive, incorporating real-life case discussions, practical classroom strategies, and reflective dialogue. Participants gained deeper insights into addressing diverse learning needs, fostering inclusive environments, and building meaningful teacher-student relationships. The symposium also underscored the importance of continuous professional development and adapting pedagogical approaches to evolving classroom realities.
