Dr. Aditya Kurdekar specialises in nanomaterials and nanophotonics, exploring how light interacts with materials at the nanoscale to develop sensitive optical platforms for biomedical sensing, diagnostics and precision measurement.
He holds a Ph.D. in Nanoscience (2017) and an M.Sc. in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2014), both from SSSIHL. His research experience spans more than a decade across SSSIHL, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (USFDA/CBER), where he was an ORISE Research Fellow. His work in nanomaterial-based biosensing and point-of-care diagnostics includes contributions to clinically validated portable diagnostic technologies for COVID-19, HCV and dengue.
His current research focuses on nanophotonics and quantum-enabled sensing, including nonlinear optical phenomena, plasmonic and hybrid nanostructures, and quantum nanomaterials. He investigates how nanoscale and quantum optical effects can improve sensing sensitivity and precision, with the aim of translating these advances into practical diagnostic and metrology platforms.
