Dr. Dinesh Kumar Choudhury has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at SSSIHL since December 2015. He holds a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from SSSIHL (Gold Medalist, 2012), an M.Sc. in Economics from the Madras School of Economics (2014), and a Ph.D. in Economics from SSSIHL (2025). His doctoral work focused on energy transitions in Indian households, analysing the determinants, challenges, and policy implications of clean cooking fuel adoption. His research interests include development economics, energy and environmental economics, health economics, applied econometrics, and Indian economic policy.
Dr. Choudhury has published in reputed journals such as Environmental Research Communications (IOP), International Journal of Social Economics (Emerald), and Archives of Public Health (Springer Nature). He is also an active reviewer for several Scopus-indexed journals, including Energy Strategy Reviews, Scientific Reports, and Frontiers in Public Health. Previously, he served as Academic Associate at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) (2014–2015) and briefly as Assistant Professor at Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi (2015).
With over a decade of teaching experience, he has offered courses in Microeconomics, Development Economics, Energy Economics, and the Indian Economy. A UGC-NET qualified scholar and member of the Society of Economics and Development, he is skilled in STATA, EViews, R, Python, and generative AI tools for economic research.
