Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 across its campuses with patriotic fervour, dignity and a deep sense of responsibility towards the nation.
The celebrations honoured the sacrifices of the freedom fighters while inspiring students and the wider Institute community to contribute to a self-reliant and developed Bharat.
At the Prasanthi Nilayam Campus, the celebrations commenced with the singing of the National Song Vande Mataram. The National Flag was hoisted by Campus Director Prof. Gowrishankar R., followed by the singing of the National Anthem. In his address, he reflected on the responsibilities that accompany freedom, emphasising discipline, integrity, service, responsible citizenship and the importance of inner freedom through self-discipline and mastery over oneself. The programme also featured a patriotic musical offering by students of the Department of Performing Arts.
The Brindavan Campus celebrations featured the singing of Vande Mataram, flag hoisting, the National Anthem, student participation and an inspiring address by Chief Guest Dr. Commander Devendra Singh. Student speaker Sai Utkarsh Opal reflected on the role of youth in nation-building, while Dr. Singh highlighted technological self-reliance, discipline, innovation and the contribution of young people towards Viksit Bharat 2047. Patriotic songs and a band performance added to the spirit of the occasion.
At the Nandigiri Campus, the celebrations included singing Vande Mataram, Vedam chanting, a musical presentation and student speeches by Hariprasath, Nirmal Kafle, Nandhu Kumar and Sayeekumar. Chief Guest Col. Arvind Bhagra spoke on Atmanirbhar Bharat, national self-reliance and the responsibility of youth. The programme also included Inter-Batch Competition prize distribution, followed by the planting of two saplings, symbolising responsibility towards the nation’s future.
The Anantapur Campus marked the occasion with a ceremonial procession, flag hoisting, parade and the unfurling of an 80-feet Tiranga. The programme featured student speeches, a patriotic song, the Student Council Investiture Ceremony and an address by Campus Director Prof. Rani P. L. The celebrations concluded with the Anti-Ragging Pledge and Human Chain Formation, reinforcing unity, discipline and vigilance.
Across all campuses, the celebrations served as a meaningful reminder that the freedom secured through sacrifice carries with it the responsibility to uphold values, serve society and contribute to the progress and prosperity of the nation.
