Dr. Vijayalekshmi Ramachandran, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Pratiksha Pradhan, a doctoral research scholar, both from the Department of Languages and Literature – English, SSSIHL, Anantapur Campus, had the opportunity to participate in and present their research papers at the 5th ASLE-ASEAN International Ecocritical Conference on Posthuman Southeast Asia conducted at Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai, Thailand from 23rd to 25th November 2023.
Dr. Ramachandran’s paper “Multispecies Modalities: Towards a Historiography of Posthuman Art from India, Southeast Asia, and Australia” was part of the panel on the “Past, Present and Future of Southeast Asia: Ecocritical Approaches”.
Ms. Pradhan’s paper “Rivers and Their Trysts with Humans in the Wasteocene: A Study of Selected Documentaries on Teesta and Mekong”, co-authored with her research supervisor Dr. Vijayalekshmi Ramachandran, was part of the panel on “Blue Ecocriticism: Southeast Asian Water Ecologies.”
Organized by the School of Liberal Arts, Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai, Thailand, and the Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment in ASEAN (ASLE-ASEAN), the conference saw over 135 participants from 21 Countries most of whom were academicians and research scholars.
