DESCRIPTION

The Department of Physics is inviting applications for the position of ‘Project Associate’ from qualified candidates to work on Interferometric Fiber Optic Gyroscope (IFOG) development project – a specialized R&D project involving fiber-optic sensing, photonics, signal processing, and precision instrumentation. This is a purely contractual position for a period of 6–8 months, renewable based on project requirements, post review and performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The selected candidate will assist in:

Assembly and characterization of fiber-optic gyroscope components
Interferometric measurements and phase modulation experiments
Handling/operating precision photonic instruments (e.g., spectrum analyzers, turntables, detectors)
Data acquisition, noise analysis, and implementation of digital/analog demodulation
Preparing technical reports and project documentation

REQUIREMENTS

A degree in M.Sc. Physics (preferably with optics/photonics coursework /exposure) or M.Sc. in Electronics / Applied Electronics or B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) or an equivalent degree, with minimum of 55% marks, and a good academic track record.
Candidates with exposure to or experience in – Fiber optics / optical interferometry, Photodetectors, modulators, and optical communication components, Signal processing, noise analysis, MATLAB/Python, Optoelectronic instrumentation or laboratory experience, and/or who have completed their Ph.D. in the area of Photonics will be preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office & computational tools is desirable
Should be 28 years or below at the time of application. The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, women, and persons with disabilities.
